The Scare a Day reading challenge starts on 1st October. A short story or a poem every single day through October. There’ll be thrills and spills … hopefully!
You can find the whole list here with handy links to all the texts if you don’t have your own copies at home.
This year I’ll be posting up some questions each week for anyone who wants to leap in and discuss these tales with me!
To get the ball rolling (and see if anyone is joining me!), I thought I’d ask a couple of questions before we even get started!
- Which read/s are you looking forward to most on this year’s list?
- Have you joined us before? If so, do you have a favourite story or author that you’ve found through the challenge?
- Who’s an author you’ve never seen on the challenge lists but you’d love to see in the future? (2022, 2023, 2024)

This started off as a story blog to share the little fictions that I like to write but it's turned into something a bit more Goth! I'm Dr Sam Hirst and I research the Gothic, theology and romance and at the moment I'm doing free Gothic classes online! We also have readalongs, watchalongs and reading groups. And I post fun little Gothic bits when I have the chance. Find me on twitter @RomGothSam

I always love rereading/re-listening to A Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny- I can never keep it to the Chapter-a-Day reading, though.
Thanks,

I will be at your challenge for the first time. For me, there are many new and interesting names among these authors. I will share with you my impressions of meeting them and look at the stories from past challenges. I have my own blog, where I will also talk about your challenge. I’m sure my readers will be delighted.

Hi, Sam! I joined #AScareADay last year and really enjoyed reading most of them. I do my best to read as many as I can for this year’s challenge!
